South African Police Hunting For A Zimbabwean Man Suspected To Have Been Involved In A Double Murder

South African Police Services (SAPS) has appealled to members of the public that might have information that might lead to the arrest of a ZImbabwean man suspected to have been involved in the murder of Ocean Basket seafood restaurant owner Lizette Deacon and her mother Hettie, New Zimbabwe reports.

This was revealed by the South African NPA Limpopo spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi who said SAPS is hunting for a ZImbabwean man Owen who uses different surnames:

The police are also calling on Owen to avail himself at the nearest police station as it is believed he might assist in the ongoing investigations. Owen, who is a Zimbabwean, uses either of the following as surnames – Setsiba, Makutara or Mbedzi. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Owen is requested to contact the nearest police station or the Crime stop number 0860010111

According to Malabi-Dzhangi, 2 other people, the deseased’s workers were arrested and have appeared before the court for the crime:

Lazarus Mahlo and Sophy Mmako appeared in Polokwane Magistrate’s Court [on Monday] on charges of two counts of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and kidnapping respectively.

A team of investigators made a breakthrough on arresting two more suspects, Lazarus Mahlo aged 41 and a domestic worker Sophy Mmako aged 51 who was employed by the Polokwane businesswoman deceased, Lizette and her mother Hettie Deacon.

Other suspects are in custory for the murder a Zimbabwean named Abibi Hamid who is an illegal immigrant and one Casper Mudau:

The matter was postponed to September 25. Both accused will join the other two co-accused Abibi Hamid and Casper Mudau.

SAPS alledge that the two women were attacked in their home in Welgelegen near the Cycad Estate in Polokwane, then loaded into an SUV, and their bodies were found with stab wounds in an abandoned vehicle on the R37 earlier this month.
