How Nakamba Was 'Rescued' From Ginimbi

A Warriors official reportedly rescued Marvelous Nakamba from the “jaws” of Genius “Ginimbi” Kandungure in early October after the socialite had lured him to a party ostensibly held in honour.

According to Zim Morning Post, Nakamba had travelled to Zimbabwe to join the Warriors ahead of an international friendly against Malawi on 11 October when he was welcomed at the Robert Mugabe International Airport by Ginimbi.

Nakamba allegedly went to Ginimbi’s “all-white party” in Harare’s leafy suburbs but was dragged away around midnight by the Warriors team manager who feared for his career. Zim Morning Post was told:

The team manager rescued Nakamba in the middle of the night, dragging him from the party.

It was not clear what they said to each other but the manager had suspected that there is some sort of cultism within these all-white parties and that the party would be detrimental to Nakamba’s football career.

And in any case, Nakamba was not supposed to be partying days before a national team assignment in which he was supposed to be in camp.

Nakamba has been struggling to hold down a place in Aston Villa’s First XI this season and it is not clear if his participation in Ginimbi’s party has had any bearing on his fortunes.

Meanwhile, Ginimbi died on Sunday morning in a tragic car accident along Borrowdale road, together with his three friends.
