COVID-19 Cases Surge In The Resort Town Of Victoria Falls
COVID-19 cases have surged in the resort city of Victoria Falls and authorities in the area have warned members of the public to be careful and adhere to COVID-19 containment measures, New Zimbabwe reports.
The town which usually experiences a huge influx of tourists around this time of the year received a considerable number of tourists with hotels recording a 50% occupancy over the festive season.
A statement published by authorities in the resort town stated that:
We would like to inform the community of Victoria Falls that there are currently 33 active cases of Covid-19 in the city. These numbers are increasing daily and we once again ask you to observe the following guidelines to prevent the spread of Copvid-19.
To wash and sanitise hands, keep physical distance, not touch face, practice good etiquette, avoid gatherings both large and small and travelling only when there is a genuine need.

This comes after Zimbabwe recorded 359 COVID-19 deaths and over 13 000 cases since the onset of the pandemic on 20 March.
