CID Boss Charumbira Granted $10K Bail
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) CID Director, Crispen Charumbira has been granted ZWL10 000 bail on fresh charges of obstructing the course of justice.
Charumbira who was already on bail on criminal abuse of office charges appeared before the courts facing obstruction of justice charges after he was reportedly visited by some senior police officers while in police custody.
He had been arrested for ordering the release of criminals who had been arrested without following due procedure.
The visitors had not informed investigating officers about the visit raising suspicion that they were probably meeting for the purposes of strategising or arranging to destroy evidence in other cases that are still under investigation.
Charumbira was ordered to continue residing at the given address, not to interfere with witnesses and report once every Friday at the nearest police station as part of his bail conditions.
